The chefs Rubén Hernández and Cristian Leiva, from the Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Perla & La Esmeralda, were winners of the first Gastronomic Championship of the Riviera Maya, celebrated with great success to make known the most avant-garde culinary offer of the Mexican Caribbean.
The jury awarded the first place to the chefs of the Mole Restaurant of the Meliá tourist complex, for the elaboration of a tasting menu that consisted of the appetizer of a grouper ceviche in sweet pepper, as a main dish a mixiote of lechón with tortillas from Blue corn and fried chocoyota and to end a dessert that consisted of a white coconut dish and pipes.
“We are very proud to get this recognition. For us it was very important to have participated and won this contest both to position Paradisus Playa del Carmen gastronomically and to the kitchen team and of course, we are motivated to follow this line of providing a menu that always includes the best products of the region and surprise our guests with unique and avant-garde dishes, “said Felipe Quezada, executive chef of the resort.
Mole is one of the 15 restaurants that Paradisus Playa del Carmen has for the enjoyment of its guests and stands out for providing the best of contemporary Mexican cuisine.
In the contest, held at the Princess Platinum with the participation of 16 chefs from eight tourist developments, aspects such as quality of the kitchen and the dish, temperatures, cleanliness, efficiency at work and the use of local products were rated.
According to the organizers of the first Gastronomic Championship of the Riviera Maya, chefs from Cirque Du Soleil, Grupo Vidanta, Paradisus By Melia Playa del Carmen, Sandos Caracol Eco Resort, Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun, Banquetera Riviera Maya, Banquetera Chuc, Platinum participated Yucatan Princess and hotel Mahekal Beach Resort.
